Fellowships

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program supports soon-to-be graduating seniors and alums in conducting research, pursuing graduate study, or teaching for one year in over 160 countries around the world.

  • What’s provided: Fulbright recipients receive support for airfare to and from the host country, support in pursuing accommodations, and a small living stipend
  • Location: Global (dependent on host country)
  • Field of Study/Work/Focus Area/Industry: All
  • Program Type: Travel, graduate study funding, teaching, research
  • Duration: One year

Eligibility

  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree prior to undertaking the grant
  • Must have U.S. citizenship or be a U.S. national

How to Apply

1. Complete the Fulbright Intent to Apply Form by June 18, 2025 to be enrolled in Brown’s Fulbright Google Classroom, which will provide more information about the application process and on drafting your application materials  

2. Register through Fulbright's online application system to gain access to the application

3. Complete and submit a rough draft of your application materials in Brown’s Fulbright Google Classroom by July 1, 2025 to be paired with a fellowship advisor for one-on-one guidance as you revise

4. Complete your Fulbright application, including:

  • Demographic and three short response questions
  • Statement of Grant Purpose
  • Personal Statement
  • Letter of Affiliation (for Research grants only)
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation (Note: Your recommenders must at least be registered by the campus deadline)
  • Transcript(s)
  • Language Evaluation (if required)
  • Portfolio (for Arts grants only)

5. Finalize your application through Fulbright's online application system and lock it by the campus deadline of 11:59pm EST on August 4, 2025. 

6. After the campus deadline there is a Fulbright Committee Review process, where a committee of faculty and staff review your applications and provide feedback. You will have time to make changes to your application, based on the committee’s suggestions, before the national deadline.

7. You will conduct an informal interview with a member of the Fulbright Committee so that they can get to know more about you and use the conversation to help inform the required university support form (submitted on your behalf).

8. Submit your final application through Fulbright's online application system by the national deadline of 5pm EST on October 7, 2025.
