Fellowships
The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest international scholarship program, enabling people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford. It fully funds two years of graduate study at the University of Oxford, whether a taught Master's program or research degree. Every year, a cohort of thirty-two U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or DACA recipients and approximately sixty-eight non-U.S. citizens receive Rhodes Scholarships.
- What’s provided: All Oxford University course fees, as well as an annual stipend to cover all living expenses, including accommodation for the recipient (not sufficient to cover partners or dependents)

Eligibility
- Note: This section is for those applying through the U.S. constituency; please refer to the section below if you are an international student/international alum
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or DACA recipient
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have not reached your 24th birthday by October 1, 2026 or must be under 27 years of age by October 1, 2026 and have completed your first undergraduate degree on or after October 1, 2025
- A 3.7 minimum GPA is required, unless an exception request is approved

How to Apply:
Applying for a Rhodes Scholarship is a multi-stage process involving campus nomination for all prospective applicants.
1. Complete the UK Awards Interest Form (to be posted April 2026) by May 22, 2026 to enroll in Brown’s UK Awards Google Classroom, which will provide more information on the application process and provide guidance on application materials.
2. Explore Brown’s UK Awards Google Classroom and begin drafting your application materials.
3. Complete the Rhodes Scholarship UFunds application (to be posted May 2026), including:
- Personal Statement (Note: Based on the policy of the Rhodes Trust, you cannot receive feedback on your personal statement)
- Academic Statement of Study (Note: Based on the policy of the Rhodes Trust, you cannot receive feedback on your academic statement)
- 1-2 page C.V., including extracurricular activities (such as community service, leadership, athletic participation), academic involvements outside of the classroom, such as research or publications, as well as other any honors and/or recognitions
- A list of 5-8 confirmed recommenders
- An official or unofficial Brown University transcript – and if applicable, transcripts from other institutions attended both domestically and abroad (Note: You only need to provide a transcript from an institution where you studied for an entire year)
4. Submit your application through our UFunds online application system by the campus deadline of 11:59pm EST on July 13, 2026. Important Note: Do not submit your application to the Rhodes online application portal at this time. Submit your application in UFunds (to be posted May 2026).
Brown’s Rhodes Review Committee meets in early July to review and nominate applicants. If you are nominated, you will:
- Meet with a fellowship advisor to discuss application logistics
- Begin your official application and register your recommenders through the Rhodes Scholarship online application system
Submit your final application through Rhodes online application system by the national deadline (to be announced Spring 2026).
International Students and Alumni:
All of dates above are for applicants who are applying through the U.S. Rhodes constituency. If you are applying through another country of citizenship or permanent residence, please review the information below regarding eligibility and application processes.
Non-U.S. Constituency Eligibility
- Only select Rhodes constituencies outside of the U.S. also require Brown's nomination:
- Canada Constituency
- Global Constituency
- Utilize the eligibility tool on the Rhodes website to determine whether you are able to apply through a different constituency.
- For any constituency other than U.S., Canada, or Global, you are able to directly apply without Brown's nomination.
- Note that the same policies regarding feedback on application materials applies for all non-U.S. constituencies.

- Note that the Rhodes Canada Constituency only requires 6 recommendations.
